Tasmeem Doha is an international design conference held in Doha, Qatar. The next Tasmeem conference will take place March 21-24, 2011, at VCUQatar in Doha, Qatar and the theme for the 2011 Tasmeem Conference is "Synapse: Designer as Link".

The workshop held on the first day was such a success, that the VCU has arranged for the next session (23 March) to be held in the VCU-Atrium at 11am, the conference's largest meeting space with more than 100 seats.
 

Based in Dubai, Gulf Photo Plus has been providing photography workshops, lectures for Middle East photographers since 2004.



To celebrate the Gulf Photo Plus event (7-14 March in Dubai) we organized a draw to win an iPod Touch and an iPod shuffle.

WinSoft International was a guest of the A.L.E.C.S.O. (Arabic Organisation for Education, Culture and Science). We had the opportunity to present our product Tasmeem for Advanced Arabic Typography. 
Kamel Gaddas, CEO, had the opportunity to demonstrate Tasmeem at Frédéric Mitterand (French Culture and Communication Minister). Mr Mitterand, having also the Tunisian nationality, was interested and impressed by the possibilities of this product.

Designed to promote the learning of languages, defend multilingualism and develop international communication, Expolangues is a unique event which has been gathering all the players in the linguistic market, both professional and general public, for the past 25 years.

The mission of the United Bible Societies is to make the Bible available to millions of people in the languages they can understand, in a form they can use, and at a price they can afford. The organization works in partnership with more than 140 national Bible Societies around the world and chose WinSoft products for the quality of its language script support. The United Bible Societies uses InDesign ME for its right-to-left and Arabic (complex) script specific support, Tasmeem in conjunction with Nastaliq for typesetting in Urdu, and ScribeDOOR.

"We were hopeful for a product which would provide thoughtful software support for common Arabic script typesetting challenges (e.g. vowel/mark positioning, justification and spacing options, robust OpenType support). Some of these expectations were met in the standard ME edition. Others (for Nastaliq work) appear to be met adequately with Tasmeem. ScribeDOOR provides simple access to the World Ready composer, and more generic complex script support." Says Jeff Klassen, Publishing Solutions Developer. "Since our team is small, we are very pleased to see that Winsoft/Adobe are expanding OpenType support through the World Ready composer development (now exposed more plainly through ScribeDOOR)."
