Nastaliq
Nastaliq, contracted from Persian naskh-i ta‘liq (i.e. slanted body text), is the most elegant and sophisticated of Arabic script styles. Perfectly adapted to short texts, poetry, titles and headlines, it is immensely popular throughout the Arabic-scripted world and provides a refreshing alternative to the commonly used Naskh style.
Nastaliq is the core script of the Persian writing tradition, and remains very important in the areas under the Persian cultural influence. Languages relying on Nastaliq are in such regions as Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, or the Uighur language of the Chinese province of Xinjiang.
In order to stay close as possible to the Persian writing tradition, the Nuqat (Dots) appears over the Kash of Kaaf or Gaaf.
